Xeikon has enhanced its commercial applications portfolio by adding its brand new SX20000 digital colour press. Xeikon has stated that the press will be suitable for printers functioning to manufacture high-quality books and direct mail along with security print, POS material and general commercial print applications. It is the second such duplex press that will be available in the market with the Sirius dry toner technology from Xeikon.

The manufacturer has stated that it will be a highly cost-effective printing machine which ensures superior quality of images, ideal registration front to back and stellar colour quality control attributes alongside. The single pass five colour press has printing abilities going up to 1,200 x 3,600 dpi with speeds of 20m/min or 1,700 B2 sheets every hour. The maximum printing width goes up to 508mm.

Kodak Buys Southern Lithoplate

Kodak has officially confirmed its acquisition of the parts and service assets of Southern Lithoplate Inc and this complements the strategic alliance that was established in December last year with SLP. Southern Lithoplate (SLP) has possessed ample expertise in the newspaper segment while Kodak’s technology and products will now be completely integrated within the umbrella of more sustainable and innovative printing solutions at the company.

Newspaper printers is the key market segment in focus here. With a history of customer centricity over 87 years, it was deemed necessary that suitable partners were found for carrying on the superlative legacy of SLP. Kodak has recently purchased ECRM assets as well.

The company will be offering the latest and very best support, service and print solutions currently available in the mainstream market. The decision to select Kodak for continuing with the SLP customer base will include the ongoing commitment towards long-term printing by Kodak along with integrity and honor which will guide the Kodak team as it has while backing up the plate business from January as per Edward A. Trip Casson III, SLP CEO & Chairman. The Kodak service team will also be taking over all servicing requirements for accounts of Southern Lithoplate, starting from the 1^st of August, 2021.
