This printer error usually occurs because of corrupt registry files, system negligence or mishandling of the device. Fortunately, you can resolve this printer problem at home in case you are equipped with a bit of technical knowledge.
- HP recommends you to use HP Genuine ink cartridge.
- Check printer ink level. This error might be caused by low or empty ink cartridge. Hence, please check the ink level of your printer. For your printer, we would recommend you to go through your user guide to check the ink level of your printer.
- Soft Power Reset (HP Deskjet, Photosmart, InkJet, Officejet)
- In this step, we will drain the static electricity from the printer.
- Turn off your HP Printer
- Remove the power cable from the printer
- Remove the USB cable from the printer.
- Remove the power cable from the wall outlet.
- Press and hold the power button on the printer for 30 seconds.
- Then connect the power cable back to printers.
- Connect the power cable back to a wall outlet.
- Use the power button to switch ON the printer.
- Check if you see any lights flashing.
- Check screen for error message.
- Clean Ink Cartridge: Sometimes your cartridge copper contacts may get tainted with unknown carbon like substance that may cause resistance between the printer and cartridge.
- Gather few cleaning item
- Lint-free cloth
- Tap water
- Cotton swab
- Open the printer door in order to remove the cartridge.
- Wait for the cartridge slot to come at the cartridge station.
- Open the cartridge lock if there is any.
- Turn off the printer.
- Remove the power cable from the printer.
- Remove the USB cable from the printer.
- Remove the cartridge from the slot.
- Moistened the cotton swab. And locate the copper contacts on the cartridge. Clean it with a cotton swab.
- Once done cleaning. Clean the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth. Wait for it to dry out.
- Meanwhile, clean the copper contacts inside the printer. You could locate it as the way cartridge placed inside the cartridge slot.
- You can place the cartridge back to the cartridge slot. And connect the power cable back to the printer. Turn on the printer. Close the cartridge door. Check for any blinking light on the printer.
- If the problem persists, replace all the cartridges with new HP genuine ink cartridges. Please make sure that you remove the orange tab from the ink cartridge. And make sure that you do not block any vent are located on top of the ink cartridge.
- Move the carriage manually and check if carriage moves easily or there is protruding.
- Close the ink access door after replacing the ink.
- Turn on the printer. And check the printer if there is an error message on printer display or any lights flashing on the printer.
