Printer errors show several messages that are displayed on the printers’ LED display. Whether a number or a term is displayed, printer errors inform the user of what is not working correctly. There may be a few reasons as to why this happens, for example, you could have a paper jam in tray 2. However, the number shown will indicate the correct address. When you have an error, check the Printerfixes.com website and look for its number on the HP Printer Error Symbols. Below are solutions for how to Fix HP Printer Error Symbols

Paper Out Error

Paper tray is empty or is not seated correctly. Make sure that the papers are installed correctly. If toner builds up on the edges of the tray that slides inside, the printer can sometimes cause problems. Take a sharp tool, such as a razor blade and scrape the accumulation of these edges.

Sensor arm jammed or broken: check that the sensor arm moves freely. Most of the time this can simply be reinstalled. If it is broken, you must replace the sensor indicator.

Detection or configuration of the defective tray size: most trays have tabs that press a series of switches when they are installed. Verify that the tabs are not damaged and that the tray switches located in the printer are not damaged. You can press them by hand and listen to them click. Occasionally, the contact for the microswitch will be doubled and will have to be replaced. Also, check the settings through the menus in the printer.

ERROR 13 – Paper jam

Check the paper to ensure it meets the accurate specifications of your printer. The tractor feeding paper with the edges torn off does not seem to work very well. See the HP paper specifications guide for more information. Be careful with labels. Remember to use labels only designed to absorb the heat generated by the fuser assembly.

Analyse the paper path to see if there is accumulated toner or dust. Look for pieces of paper lodged in the path, particularly around the sensors. 4L / 4P printers may have jammed paper in the collection area accessed by removing the screw on the oblique roller cover.

You may have a worn pickup roller. Common in the LJII / III series is a worn input pickup roller. Sometimes, you can clean them and get a few more kilometers of them, but when you start having jams with a spot in the top center of the page, it’s time to replace the input pickup roller assembly and the paper separation pad of cork. In the IIP / IIIP, you can eliminate the accumulation of toner/paper powder from the roller and also remove the separation pad (small cork pad) and clean it as well.

Is the paper size correct? Is the software configured for the size you are using? Is the menu set to the size you are using? Check these items. If the software tells the printer to wait for a different size (legal, A4, COM10) than the available tray, you will get an error. HP Printer Error Symbols can occur when printing a FAX document formatted for an A4 paper.

It could also have a defective or dirty output sensor. Replace or clean as necessary
