Sometimes, it so happens that the HP Deskjet 3522 printer does not print black ink in spite of all the other colors printing. Here are some things that can be done to fix the problem.

First, it is important to use only genuine HP ink cartridges. In case of using refilled cartridges a number of other problems might occur and then nothing will help your printers to work again. Hence, it is important to use authentic cartridges while using the printers.

Next, make sure that the paper is appropriate. The paper should be put print side down on the input tray and this is especially important for papers which have printing and non- printing sides. Never use curled or wrinkled paper. Some papers do not absorb ink very well so they tend to smear easily.

Next, follow the print settings respectively for Windows or Mac devices and then, move on to check whether the ink levels are appropriate.

To do that, check the ink level warnings and the indicators and change the cartridges when the low ink level light comes on to avoid printing delays.

On the hp printer control panel, press the Down arrow to select Ink Levels and then press OK.

The ink levels screen displays with gauges for all four ink colors. If the ink level graphics shows low or empty ink cartridges, or the quality is not according to expectations, then try to replace the problem ink cartridges, especially the black cartridges.

Print a test copy and evaluate the print quality. Troubleshoot any print quality defects as well.

If the printer is printing properly, then the black color will be dense and dark and will have no streaks or lines. The black text will also not show any ink streaks.
