The Norwegian Defence Research Establishment and Mark3D UK have announced an exclusive partnership agreement. As a result of this agreement, Mark3D UK will be the sole supplier of Fieldmade Nomad LW portable 3D printers in the UK. “Fieldmade AS are specialists in some primary areas; our products and services cover Digital Inventory Management, Consulting Services, and the Nomad range of in-field additive manufacturing equipment,” said Fieldmade CEO Jostein Olsen. In other news, the British army is using in-field additive manufacturing for Project Convergence 22. It makes sense for us to collaborate with the UK Markforged specialists, Mark3D UK, to improve our offering to the UK’s defense and energy sectors, which have shown tremendous interest in our LW products,” Fieldmade’s CEO added.
The Nomad LW’s primary advantage is continuous operation at the point of need, even in the most extreme and remote environments. The Mark Two is very compact and manageable in size, it’s very easy to use, and when combined with its ability to print parts stronger than aluminum, it’s the obvious choice for operationally critical 3D printing.” Fieldmade AS provides some Nomad options, including the Nomad LW. To meet the needs of end users, larger solutions are available in Nomad 1, Nomad 2, or Nomad 3 configurations. Customers can use these solutions to get a pre-packaged micro-factory that can be deployed anywhere in the world. Materials include polymer, composite, and metal, giving the company “the greatest possible choice.” According to the company, integration into the Fieldmade Digital Inventory software allows users to access fully aggregated, print-ready files with supporting metadata and other features.
The collaboration is centered on an Integrated Post Processing Solution that offers comprehensive support throughout the entire 3D printing production workflow. Customers can use the solution to more productively and cost-effectively incorporate and automate post-processing steps such as cleaning, chemical vapor smoothing, coloring, part sorting, and inspection for applications produced with HP’s industrial Jet Fusion 3D printing polymer printing solutions.
By digitizing the entire workflow, from part design to 3D printing and post-processing, this contract will make it easier for consumers to purchase post-printing solutions. According to PostProcess, VAD technology has been effectively used in large industrial customer production environments to process large numbers of SLS powder cakes and thousands of parts.
